The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most impressive franchise that has grown to astounding feats in the decade it has been in existence. In that time, one could also say that it has become pretty formulaic. As we shift into Phase 4 though, Marvel is pushing a different way to do things. One of those things is instead of a team of heroes in The Avengers, we might be looking at a different group of heroes assembled of villains and antiheroes, known as The Thunderbolts.
MCUCosmic is reporting that a long rumored Thunderbolts project has finally moved into the early development phase at Marvel. Now little is know about this project, but there is plenty out there to formulate some early theories. First of that being, General Thunderbolt Ross being the one to assemble this team. He recently re-appeared in Captain America: Civil War after a very long hiatus. We know he will also be appearing in Scarlet Johansson’s Black Widow film in Spring 2020. There are plenty of other villains still scattered throughout the MCU in Ghost (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Justin Hammer (Iron Man 2), and even Baron Zemo (Captain America: Civil War) who will be making a re-appearance in Falcon and The Winter Soldier Disney+ Series.
It is unknown if this will be a feature length film, or if it will join the likes of WandaVision, Loki, and Falcon and The Winter Soldier as event series on Disney+. Either way, you can bet that a team such as this will have a rippling effect throughout the MCU.
What villains do you hope to see on The Thunderbolts roster? Sound off in the comments below!
